Instruments 4 Change seeks to improve the lives of youth living in poverty through music. Our mission is to donate quality musical instruments to young musicians living in the favelas of Brasil. Our hope is that these instruments can be used as a source of self-empowerment, confidence building, and possibly even employment for those who receive them.
I4C works by cultivating connections with youth music schools in Brasil. Partnering with Marcelo Bernardes (one of the premier woodwind players in Brasil), I4C is able to ensure that each instrument gets put into the hands of a young student who needs it. Currently, I4C supports 3 different music schools in Brasil: Orquestra de Sopros Pro Arte, Flautistas da Pro Arte, and Projecto da Marambaia.
To raise awareness and funds, I4C hosts a monthly concert with the band Ginga Grande every first Thursday at the Laughing Goat Coffee Shop on 1709 Pear St. in Boulder, Colorado from 8:30-10:30pm (This schedule is subject to change, so please check the Laughing Goat website before you make plans). Admission is $5.
